One Trait at a Time: Trust in God's Provision
Wisdom Scripture
Isaiah 5:21 (NIV)
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
and clever in their own sight.
Wisdom Quote
Paul acknowledged that his preaching was “not in plausible words of wisdom,” yet he called his proclamation of the gospel “the wisdom of God,” as Christ Himself is “the wisdom of God” (1 Cor. 2:1–5, 7; 1 Cor. 1:24, 30).¹

Insights: Trust in God’s Provision
You’ve tried and failed. Those three formidable enemies have knocked you down, leaving you feeling defeated.
But God.
The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are more than powerful enough to defeat the world, the flesh, and the devil. God provides all you need to become like Christ (2 Peter 1:3).
In the busyness of life and the frustrations of failure, you can forget what God has done for you and what He provides for you today. You need more than self-help tips for a better life. Embrace God’s provision.
Trust in the Father’s Faithful Love
Reflect on one of the most famous verses in the Bible as if you are reading it for the first time:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Your heavenly Father loves you so much that He gave His Son, Jesus Christ, for you! He sent Jesus from His divine throne in heaven to an animal stall on earth to become human, so He could die, so you could live. Stunning!
The Father loves you unconditionally. In Hebrew, hesed means faithful love. In Greek, agape refers to divine love that never lets you go. When you trust in Jesus Christ, the Father adopts you into His family. When He welcomes you into the divine family, you are secure in His love.
He will never let you go. He will never abandon you. Even when you are faithless, He remains faithful (see the book of Hosea). He rejoices over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17).
You will fail—often. We all do. And when you do, God’s faithful love will always pick you up.
Pray for greater faith to recognize your Father’s love, accept it, embrace it, and find rest in it. From that place of secure contentment, you can grow in Christlikeness. Your Father’s loving work is complemented by Jesus Christ’s gracious work on the cross.
