The Power of Change: Change? Me? What?

Wisdom Scripture

Proverbs 4:7 (NIV)

“The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.”

Wisdom Quote

A frequent theme of the wisdom literature in the Old Testament is that the “fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Prov. 9:10; see also Prov. 1:7; 15:33; Job 28:28; Ps. 111:10).¹

Insights: Change? Me? What?

What could you change that would most please God?

God calls you to be transformed into the character of Christ. Compare yourself to Jesus. Where do you fall short? Consider the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Which one is your weakest?

God commands us to be holy as He is holy—to love as He loves.

Just because you won’t be perfect until heaven doesn’t mean you get a pass until you get there. And just because you may be more mature than someone else doesn’t give you an excuse to stop growing in Christ.

I want to help you grow spiritually—to become the person God intends you to be and to experience more of the abundant life Jesus offers. You can become the kind of person your children and others can emulate—someone who can honestly say, “Follow me as I follow Christ.”

Should you change? You must.

Could you change? You can.

If you implement a plan? You will.

Most of us are stuck or complacent. We avoid facing where we need to grow because we know it will require action. But you should face it. You don’t have to stay trapped in the same habits and hang-ups that keep you stuck.

What if real change is possible?

Maybe you struggle with worry, a quick temper, or spending money to feel better. For some, deeper sins quietly poison the heart—issues never shared with anyone. These secrets erode your integrity, weaken your moral strength, and distance you from God, who loves you.

How can you parent with spiritual power if you gossip at work, misuse company time, tell small lies, or drink too much? Your children are watching—and imitating you. Are you living a life you want them to copy?
